Personal Insurance Coverage

Homeowners Insurance

Homeowners insurance in Florida helps protect your home Homeowners insurance in Florida helps protect your home and personal belongings from common losses like fire, theft, vandalism, and certain types of water damage, and it also includes liability coverage if someone is injured on your property.

Because Florida weather is a major factor, policies often include specific rules for hurricane/windstorm coverage, including a separate hurricane (named storm) deductible and potential limits depending on your location and roof details. It’s also important to know that flood damage is not covered by a standard homeowners policy—flood coverage typically requires a separate flood policy (NFIP or private).

Umbrella Coverage

Personal umbrella insurance provides extra liability protection above your home and auto policy limits. It can help protect your savings and future income if you’re involved in a major claim—like a serious auto accident or someone getting badly hurt on your property.

Auto Insurance

Auto insurance in Florida helps protect you financially after an accident by covering things like vehicle damage, injuries, and liability—depending on the coverages you choose. Florida is a no-fault state, so policies typically include Personal Injury Protection (PIP) (and often Property Damage Liability) to help pay medical bills and damages regardless of who caused the crash.

Many drivers also add Bodily Injury Liability for stronger protection, plus Collision and Comprehensive to cover damage to your vehicle from accidents, theft, vandalism, and weather events (like hail or falling objects).

Landlord Insurance

Dwelling (Landlord) insurance—often called a DP3 policy—is designed for Florida rental properties. It helps cover the structure of the home and can include liability protection if a tenant or guest is injured on the property. Depending on the policy, you can also add coverage for loss of rental income after a covered claim, and like most Florida property policies, flood coverage is separate.

Flood Insurance

Flood insurance in Florida helps cover flood-related damage to your home and certain contents. Since flood damage isn’t covered by a standard homeowners policy, it’s typically purchased as a separate policy through the NFIP or a private flood insurer.

Renters Insurance

Renters insurance in Florida helps protect your personal belongings (like furniture, electronics, and clothing) from covered losses such as theft, fire, and certain water damage. It also includes liability coverage if someone is injured in your rental or you accidentally damage someone else’s property—while your landlord’s policy typically only covers the building..
